Today in class we started learning about Ancient Egypt. Here are my notes:

Geography

E                                       Egyptian life is centered around the Nile 

·                                            Flows from South to North

·                    Water was used for drinking, irrigating,  bathing, and transportation

·                                    Every July the Nile floods

·                                   Every October it produces rich soil

·                              The delta is a broad, marshy triangular area of fertile soil

                          Daily Life

                   slaves helped the rich
                  slaves weren't always treated horrible

                 At first merchants traded things, but later started using money

                Pharaohs were above everyone

                 Pharaohs were buried with everything they needed in their after life

                 Pyramids

                  The Great Sphinx of Giza was built 2555-2532 BC

                   A recumbent  lions with a human head

                  oldest statue in the world
